Jenkins Named Personnel Exec for BDS

Joe Jenkins has been appointed vice president of human resources for BDS Marketing in Irvine. He was formerly general manager and director of human relations for the staffing firm of Snelling & Snelling. Jenkins has also been general manager for Professional Care Systems, director of operations and human resources for Corus Medical Corp. and district human resources and operations manager for Homedco.

Jack Hopkins has joined Universal Electronics Inc. in Cypress as vice president of product management and corporate communications. Hopkins had been marketing director for SBE Inc. and before that was vice president of marketing for TCSI Inc.

Wanda L. Johanson has been appointed chief executive of the American Society of Critical-Care Nurses in Aliso Viejo. She was formerly an associate operating officer at Duke University Health System in Durham, N.C.

Scott Yarde has been named director, ultrasound marketing for Toshiba America Medical Systems in Tustin. Before joining Toshiba, Yarde was with Philips Medical Systems for seven years.

Craig Dalton will head Proteus Inc.’s new office in Laguna Beach as director of West Coast operations. Proteus is an Internet development and consulting company.

Louis Gilles has been appointed product manager for Primal, an Irvine subsidiary of Avery Communications Inc. Gilles was previously with Sprint PCS and held management positions with Denso California, Ameritech Cellular and Cellular One Chicago.

Stephen J. Fryer, president and chief executive of Pen Interconnect Inc. in Irvine, has been elected chairman of the board. He succeeds Jim Pendelton, the company’s founder and former chief executive. Pendelton remains one of the company’s largest shareholders.

Frank Hambalek has joined McGladrey & Pullen LLP as a general services manager. He will focus primarily on the manufacturing and wholesale distribution industries. Based out of the San Bernardino office, Hambalek will also work with clients of the Anaheim and Pasadena offices. He was formerly chief financial officer of Shook Building Systems Inc.

C. Richard Piazza, Joseph A. Mollica and Richard L. Casey have been elected to the board of directors of Nexell Therapeutics Inc. in Irvine. Piazza is president and chief executive of PharmaPrint Inc. Mollica is chairman and chief executive of Pharmacopeia Inc. Casey is retired chairman and chief executive of Scios Inc.
