CFO Resigns From Software Maker Activision

* Barry Plaga, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Activision Inc., has resigned for personal reasons. The Santa Monica-based interactive software maker said it will conduct a nationwide search to find a replacement. In the interim, Rasmus Van Der Colff, vice president of finance, will serve as CFO, the company said.

* Nick Valestrino has been promoted president of L.A. Label, a privately held Commerce-based label and tag maker.

* Mortgage lender Countrywide Home Loans Inc. has promoted Kevin Lavalle to senior vice president of its online unit Countrywide.com. Countrywide Home Loans is a subsidiary of Countrywide Credit Industries Inc. of Calabasas.

* Robert Koval has been appointed general manager of Thomas Gregor Associates, an El Segundo-based developer of integrated audio, video, lighting and show control systems for entertainment, retail and gaming sites.

* Union Bank of California has promoted Scott Connella to senior vice president and regional administrative manager for the bank’s commercial banking group. He will be based in Los Angeles. Union Bank is a unit of San Francisco-based UnionBanCal Corp.
