Nebraska is happily back on top in the Big 12 Conference North Division.

The No. 7 Cornhuskers avenged last year’s loss to Kansas State on Saturday by blowing out the No. 5 Wildcats, 41-15, at Lincoln, Neb.

Nebraska, 9-1 overall and 6-1 in the Big 12, can clinch the North title by beating Colorado on Nov. 26.

“We knew they didn’t respect Nebraska like they used to,” Cornhusker linebacker Carlos Polk said. “We knew they didn’t fear Nebraska like they used to. We wanted to put that fear back into them.”

Eric Crouch led Nebraska with 158 yards rushing and two touchdowns as the Cornhuskers quickly forgot about last year’s 40-30 loss.

Kansas State’s win last year ended a 29-game losing streak against Nebraska. The Wildcats’ chances at two in a row didn’t look good at halftime, when they trailed, 24-9, and vanished in the fourth quarter when Nebraska scored 17 points. The loss probably will drop the Wildcats (9-1, 6-1) out of contention for the national championship.

No. 10 Texas 58, Texas Tech 7--Major Applewhite became Texas’ first 3,000-yard passer and the Longhorns (9-2, 6-1) earned a berth in the Big 12 title game with the rout of the Red Raiders (5-5, 4-3) at Austin, Texas.

The victory gives Texas at least a share of the Big 12 South Division title. The Longhorns still could end up tied for the division title with Oklahoma but own the tiebreaker for the championship game based on a 38-28 victory over the Sooners last month.

Oklahoma 31, Iowa State 10--Quenton Griffin scored two touchdowns and, for the first time this season, Oklahoma (6-3, 4-2) ran better than it passed in rolling over the Cyclones (4-6, 1-6) at Ames, Iowa. The Sooners rushed for a season-high 301 yards against a defense that ranked 91st nationally against the run.

Colorado 37, Baylor 0--Mike Moschetti completed 18 of 24 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown at Waco, Texas, as the Buffaloes (6-4, 5-2) sent the Bears (1-9, 0-7) to their seventh consecutive loss.

Texas A&M; 51, Missouri 14--Ja’Mar Toombs scored three touchdowns as the Aggies (7-3, 4-3) routed the Tigers (4-6, 1-6) at Columbia, Mo.

Oklahoma State, 45, Kansas 13--Two long punt returns by Terance Richardson helped the Cowboys (4-5, 2-4) score three touchdowns in less than three minutes in Stillwater, Okla. Kansas is 4-7, 2-5.
