Dear Carrie?

Writer-actress Carrie Fisher is writing her own advice column on the Net. Yes, that would be the same Carrie Fisher who has spoken publicly about her battles with mental illness and drug addiction.

“I’ve made more mistakes than anyone,” Fisher told us. “I have to go into this with a huge caveat: Why would I know the answers?”

Still, the sought-after script doctor and author of the poignant novel “Postcards From the Edge” (and screenplay) is a great communicator. “One of my first addictions was a verbal one,” she joked.

Fisher will serve as “Den Mother” for the Santa Monica-based Digital Entertainment Network, which offers programming and e-commerce for Generation Y (ages 14 to 24) at https://www.den.com. She will also author DEN’s “Postcards From the Net” column on interesting Internet sites.

Fisher has become quite the Web enthusiast, cruising chat rooms, which she calls “the trailer parks of the Internet.”

“There is so much of it that is sexual and obscene, and that doesn’t interest me,” she said. But it is a great communication tool, said Fisher, who likes the anonymity of a screen name.

“I’ve been around people in the entertainment industry forever. They are fine, but there are more people in [the] world. My fantasy is other people.”

“He is my teddy bear,” says actress Mira Sorvino, “a real presence in my life.” Is she raving about a new beau or a sexy co-star? No, she is talking about her dog, a Chawla/whippet cross named Deer. Sorvino and her best furry friend appear in the first issue of Animal Fair, a celeb-heavy magazine for animal lovers that hits newsstands this week.

“It’s a lifestyle magazine for people who treat pets like their children,” the glossy’s 29-year-old founder Wendy Diamond told us.

The first issue profiles Renee Zellweger and main mutt Dylan, photos by Bruce Weber, an essay about her cat, Ginger, by playwright Wendy Wasserstein. There are also stories about rescued animals.

“More than 9 million animals are killed in shelters every year. I want to make a difference and get the message out that it’s OK to have a rescued animal,” Diamond said.

Animal Fair is published quarterly, but an accompanying Web site, https://www.animalfair.com, is updated daily. Designer doggie duds created by Tommy Hilfiger, Pamela Dennis, Donna Karan, Kate Spade and others are up for auction on the site until Dec. 15. Proceeds will benefit animal charities.

The latest body part to pierce is the frenum, according to this month’s Details magazine. The what? Yeah, that was our reaction, too. Turns out the frenum is the vertical membrane on the inside of your upper or lower lip that connects lip to gum. Or the vertical membrane under the tongue. Must make teeth brushing very difficult.
