* Trans World Airlines Inc. said that it is ending service to three European cities as it starts flying to seven other destinations, and would take an $80-million charge as a result. TWA said it will end service to Rome, Madrid and Barcelona, Spain, beginning Jan. 10. The carrier will use aircraft from the canceled routes to operate new services to such destinations as Puerto Rico and Mexico.

* Maytag Corp., which last month reported disappointing third-quarter results, said its chief financial officer had resigned, but the home appliance maker denied any link between his departure and the company’s recent performance. Gerald Pribanic, 56, will stay on while a successor is sought.

* Nike Inc. named Donald Blair, senior vice president of finance for PepsiCo Inc.’s Pepsi-Cola Bottling Group, its chief financial officer, ending a nearly two-year search.
