Two favorite sons fought it out at the top of the new album chart, with rapper Dr. Dre outdoing rockers Korn in Southern California--the reverse of their showing nationally. Two other artists, Kurupt and Fiona Apple, reflected their strong support in Southern California with albums that made the regional Top 10 while ranking No. 31 and No. 29 nationally, respectively.
