Nordhoff 24, San Jacinto 7--The Rangers (10-2) benefited from three San Jacinto turnovers in the third quarter to break open a close game at San Jacinto.
Nordhoff’s worst starting position in the third quarter was at the Tiger 39-yard line. Chris Thomas recovered two Steve Rose fumbles, returning one 23 yards to set up the Rangers’ final score.
Nordhoff’s John Hill completed seven of 11 passes for 89 yards and two third-quarter touchdowns, hitting Scott Drew on a 23-yard scoring pass and Bret Ferrante on a 16-yard touchdown pass.
The Rangers trailed, 7-3, but took the lead for good on Jessie Hawkins’ 66-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter. Hawkins rushed for 114 yards in 15 carries.
