Police shot and injured a female robbery suspect Monday morning after she allegedly held up a beauty supply store and aimed her gun at officers.

Los Angeles Police Cmdr. Dave Kalish said the unidentified woman pointed a handgun at officers, who cornered her outside a house in southwestern Los Angeles.

“The officers told her several times to put the gun down and she didn’t,” Kalish said. “They fired their weapons and struck her several times.”

The woman did not fire her gun during the robbery or when she was stopped by police, he said. The woman, whom police had not yet identified, is believed to be around 30 years old. She was listed Monday afternoon in stable condition at County-USC Medical Center, police said.

The woman held up C&S; Beauty Supply at about 10 a.m. Monday on the 4000 block of Western Avenue--three blocks from the Police Department’s Southwest Division headquarters, Kalish said. She allegedly made off with about $400.

A witness who spotted her leaving the store on foot followed her in his car and called police from his mobile phone.
