Pat Valenzuela Gets First Win in Return
Eight mounts into his latest comeback, jockey Pat Valenzuela scored his first victory Thursday at Santa Anita. Aboard odds-on favorite Irrelevant in the sixth race for trainer Mike Mitchell, Valenzuela, 36, went to the front on the 3-year-old gelding and won by five lengths. It was his first victory since Aug. 20, 1997 at Del Mar.
