It began 25 years ago with just 20 preschool students. After one year, the toddlers at the Friends Christian School were in kindergarten, so the school added another grade level.
There are now almost 1,400 students, preschool through eighth grade, and school administrators are talking about adding a high school.
The students, teachers, administrators and alumni will kick off their year of anniversary celebrations Oct. 16 with an ice cream social and family picnic. The event will start at 11 a.m. at the Rose Drive campus, where there will be games and food until 3 p.m.
