A group advocating open space conservation will hold an information session about the potential ecological effects of a proposed southern extension of the Foothill Transportation Corridor.

Friends of the Foothills will show slides and maps of the landscape and wildlife around Oso Parkway and Basilone Road--the stretch of open space where the county proposed extending the toll road, said Elizabeth Lambe, the group’s coordinator.

“The road would open the space to development, which would increase traffic, pollution and deteriorate the water quality of a pristine area,” Lambe said.

The information session will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sea Country Senior and Community Center, 24602 Aliso Creek Road. Information: (949) 831-3287.
