A routine stop of a truck by police turned into the recovery of 218 stolen televisions and the arrest of five suspects late Friday night in Stanton.
Police found five televisions did not match the truck’s legal list of transported items. In running the TV serial numbers, police found they were part of an entire shipment of televisions reported missing.
Police set up a surveillance area and apprehended a second truck carrying 52 televisions about an hour after the first arrest. An additional 161 televisions were recovered when police entered a warehouse on the corner of Chapman Avenue and Beach Boulevard.
