LAGUNA BEACH
First- and second-year teachers in the Laguna Beach Unified School District can reap the benefits of a new program. The Beginning Teachers Support and Assessment program pairs new teachers with veterans for a mentor-like relationship.
The program, which is being used in other Southern California school districts, was designed to help teachers adjust to the classroom and feel more confident and comfortable teaching.
The two-year program, coordinated by the University of California at Irvine, also offers workshops for both new and veteran teachers.
