Region’s Culture Is Nearly All in the Discount Card

If you don’t know about the CEE LA card, you’re missing one of the best deals around for cultural, sports and entertainment highlights in Southern California.

Admission to participating museums is free for a family of four with the $40 membership card, and participants can get as much as 50% off tickets to some major sports events.

My daughter told me about the discount card after she and her husband realized how much money they were saving and how much they were enjoying trips to museums with their 4-year-old.

“This way, we don’t have to stay all day,” she said. “When you don’t have to pay $15 to $20, you can feel free to leave when the kids become restless or we run out of steam. And you can return as many times as you want.”

The CEE LA membership card is $40 for a family of four or six, depending on the museum, and is good for one year. The Armand Hammer Museum of Art, Autry Museum of Western Heritage, George C. Page Museum, Los Angeles Children’s Museum, MOCA and the Petersen Automotive Museum are among those that offer free entry with a CEE LA card.

Cardholders can also get 50% off at some major sports events, including games with the Lakers, the Harlem Globetrotters, the PGA Open and the Mercedes-Benz tennis championship. Theater offerings include the East-West Players, the Knightsbridge Theatre and the Pasadena Playhouse.

Concert events by the Long Beach Symphony, Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Pacific Symphony are also on the list, and every card comes with a CEE LA Events Directory.

A portion of the membership fees benefits the participating museums.
