Glass From Building Falls, Kills Woman
A woman walking down a Chicago street with a young girl was struck and killed by a pane of glass from an insurance company’s skyscraper, police said. Anna Flores, 36, was walking hand-in-hand with the girl outside the downtown CNA Building. The glass, part of a cracked window, dislodged from the 29th floor of the skyscraper, flew over elevated train tracks and struck the woman in the head as she walked on the busy sidewalk. The girl, who was not physically hurt but was hysterical, told bystanders the woman was her grandmother. CNA said it had begun an immediate inspection of all the windows. Two windows were removed after the accident.
