College Newspaper Captures Award
The Ventura College Press, the student newspaper at Ventura College, captured a General Excellence Award at the Southern California Journalism Conference at Cal State Fullerton.
The Press staff also won 18 additional awards--eight for writing, eight for photography and one each for page design and headlines.
In selecting winners for the General Excellence Award, the judges considered writing, editing, photography, layout and graphics.
“Good solid news stories, lively features, nice blend of issues,” the judges said of the Press submissions.
About 40 community college newspapers competed for the awards.
