No Pac-10 Teams in This Week’s Poll

For the first time since Oct. 6, 1985, the Pacific 10 Conference doesn’t have a team in the Associated Press poll.
USC fell out of the Top 25, leaving the Pacific 10 Conference without a representative.
Michigan State (6-0), coming off a big victory over Michigan, jumped six places to No. 5 in this week’s AP top 25 poll. Michigan (5-1), meanwhile, fell seven spots to No. 10.
The last time Michigan State cracked the top five was a No. 3 ranking on Sept. 18, 1967.
Florida State (6-0) and Penn State (6-0) remained 1-2 for the fourth consecutive week after balloting by the 70 sports writers and broadcasters on the AP panel.
Nebraska (6-0) moved up one spot to No. 3, followed by No. 4 Virginia Tech and Michigan State.
In the USA Today/ESPN coaches’ poll, the top five are: Florida State, Penn State, Nebraska, Virginia Tech and Tennessee.

Rice, 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the Western Athletic Conference, rushed 66 times for 354 yards in beating Hawaii (4-2, 2-1), 38-19, Saturday night at Honolulu.
