Police Ticketing Vehicles Without Front Plates
City parking enforcement officers have begun ticketing automobiles that do not have front license plates.
State law requires that license plates be mounted on the front and rear of cars.
Vehicle owners who are cited by West Hollywood officers will have 14 days to replace the missing plate and must have the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department verify the correction, a city spokeswoman said.
Proof of the correction and a $10 fine will be required to be sent to the West Hollywood City Hall.
If the license plate is not replaced within two weeks, the fine jumps to $31 and the car’s registered owner is subject to additional citations, said the spokeswoman.
Officials said West Hollywood joins the cities of Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Culver City in actively enforcing the front license plate law.
