Ex-Gov. Wilson to Join Private Investment Firm

Former Gov. Pete Wilson has been named a managing director of Pacific Capital Group, a merchant bank and investment firm, the company announced Monday.

Wilson will be a member of the senior management team and will take an active leadership role in the Beverly Hills-based firm’s private investment activities.

“I am excited to work with a group that has provided the capital investment that has contributed to the formation and growth of so many companies,” Wilson said. “The Pacific Capital Group leadership has repeatedly translated opportunity into success.”

Wilson served as governor of California from 1991 to 1998 and was a U.S. senator from 1983 to 1991.

“Pete . . . has a remarkable record of success as a leader and we are delighted that our company will benefit from his vast experience and broad range of skills,” said Gary Winnick, chairman of the company.

Wilson is a graduate of Yale University and of Boalt Hall School of Law. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the California State Assembly and then was mayor of San Diego.
