Place the Blame Where It Belongs
* Re “Anaheim School Board President Chastised for Remark in Sex Abuse Case” (Oct. 8):
Harald Martin’s remark clearly indicates he is a detriment to the schoolchildren he is charged with serving. That’s right, let’s not forget that school boards and their presidents are there to serve the children in their school districts and not, as it has been lately, to villainize them.
I wonder if Harald Martin would still blame the victim if it had been a daughter of his who had been sexually abused at 13 by a trusted teacher. Would he be just as quick to blame her for half of the crime and would he still appeal the case? If so, I’d hate to be one of his children, let alone one of the schoolchildren left under his charge.
