LAGUNA BEACH
The Women’s Club of Laguna Beach wants to increase awareness of the conditions being forced on Afghan women by the Taliban regime with a special program focusing on Afghanistan’s gender apartheid.
Fariha Assifi, who became an Afghan refugee in 1981 when the country was under Soviet control, will speak about conditions before the current regime came to power in 1996. Assifi is now a U.S. citizen living in Orange County.
The free event will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Women’s Club, 286 St. Ann’s Drive. Information: (949) 497-7856.
