The Tustin provider of communication networks for health-care facilities reported a third-quarter loss of $1.4 million, or 18 cents a share, compared with a loss of $514,000, or 6 cents a share, for the same period a year ago. Revenue fell 19% to $3.8 million. VitalCom attributed the wider loss and lower revenue to delays in sales agreements with hospitals, which are wrestling with budget cuts.

The company also said it discontinued a program to repurchase up to 800,000 shares of stock. VitalCom, which has bought back about 350,000 of its shares, said a relatively low number of shares were available in the market.
