Conexant Systems Wins ’97 Patent Lawsuit

Share

Conexant Systems Inc., the Newport Beach chip maker that was shed by Rockwell International Corp. in December, said Monday that it has won a 1997 patent infringement lawsuit filed in Northern California by a technology rival.

The suit was filed against Rockwell in federal court in San Jose by Klaus Holtz and his company, Omni Dimensional Networks. Holtz alleged in the suit that Conexant had violated his modem technology patent and failed to pay to use the technology in many of its telephone modem products. Conexant denied the allegations.

Judge Jeremy Fogel, in a decision signed last week, ruled in favor of Conexant on all claims, Conexant attorney James Scheer said.

Neither Holtz nor Omni, which had been seeking at least $50 million in damages, could be reached for comment late Monday.
