The first round of Friday’s Pacific Bell Senior Classic at Wilshire Country Club will be played as scheduled, but Friday’s play in the PGA Tour Championship at Houston has been rescheduled and the tour’s Southern Farm Bureau Classic at Madison, Miss., has been shortened to 54 holes because of a memorial service for Payne Stewart at Orlando, Fla.

The Tour Championship’s new schedule includes 27 holes on Thursday, 27 holes on Saturday and the final 18 on Sunday. The Mississippi tournament will have 18 holes on Thursday, then 18 holes Saturday and Sunday.

At Wilshire, out of respect for Payne’s memory, Tuesday’s Pacific Bell Charity Challenge was canceled. The five-hole event was to have featured Raymond Floyd, Billy Casper, Joe Inman and Dana Quigley.

Stewart, 42, died, along with five others, in a private jet crash Monday in South Dakota.

Stewart’s family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to the Payne Stewart Foundation, care of the First Baptist Church of Orlando, where the memorial service will be held.
