Students at Sonora High School joined forces Wednesday after school to launch their Hands Off Halloween Responsible Merchants Campaign, a nationwide effort to remove alcohol-related Halloween advertisements that target youths.

About 19 teenagers involved in different anti-drug and alcohol youth programs including the YMCA’s Teens Getting Involved, Peer Assistance Leadership Program and Friday Night Live Program, approached liquor store owners in La Habra and asked them to remove the advertisements. Teens Getting Involved began its campaign a week ago by talking to the store managers and owners of four stores: 7-Eleven, Sav-on Liquor & Food, Summit Beer & Wine Market and Carnivores restaurant on La Habra Boulevard.
