Paus Showing Better Attitude
Quarterback Cory Paus hopes to play better Saturday night after two consecutive poor performances, but he is already responding better.
That is an issue, because relatives, coaches and friends have spoken to him recently about not getting so down on himself or taking defeats too hard. This has been the first week of his new outlook--in the wake of having been pulled in the third quarter of the 55-7 rout by Oregon State.
“We lost and it was an unbelievable loss, but I was trying my best not to take it so personally,” Paus said. “I didn’t feel good by any means. I just felt better than I did the last week, even though it was such a bad loss. Better in the point where I moved on to the next game and tried to figure out what’s wrong and things like that.”
Said Coach Bob Toledo, “He’s a very competitive person and he’s a proud person and he’s not playing well. Kind of inconsistent. Kind of like another freshman we used to have around here [Cade McNown]. He will learn that he can’t take the whole team and put ‘em on his shoulders.”
