March, 1998 -- Fox Group purchases the Dodgers from the O’Malley family.

May 15, 1998--Catcher Mike Piazza and third baseman Todd Zeile are traded to the Florida Marlins in a seven-player deal.

June 21, 1998--General Manager Fred Claire and Manager Bill Russell are fired. Tom Lasorda is interim GM and Glenn Hoffman is interim manager.

July 4, 1998--First baseman Paul Konerko and pitcher Dennis Reyes are traded to the Cincinnati Reds for relief pitcher Jeff Shaw.

July 31, 1998--Infielder Wilton Guerrero and three minor leaguers are traded to the Montreal Expos for pitcher Carlos Perez, shortstop Mark Grudzielanek and a minor leaguer.

Sept 11, 1998--Kevin Malone is named general manager.

Oct. 23, 1998--Davey Johnson is named manager.

Dec. 1, 1998--Outfielder Roger Cedeno and catcher Charles Johnson are traded to the New York Mets for catcher Todd Hundley and a minor leaguer.

Dec. 12, 1998--Right-hander Kevin Brown is signed to to a record seven-year, $105-million contract.

April 5, 1999--A promising start to the season as Raul Mondesi hits two home runs in an 8-6, 11-inning victory over Arizona.

June 27, 1999--An 8-7 loss to the Giants puts the Dodgers in last place in the NL West, the first time in three years the team had been in the cellar.

July 30, 1999--At the trading deadline, President Bob Graziano and Malone say they will stand pat and continue to evaluate the team for possible off-season moves.

July 31, 1999--Lasorda calls the team an embarrassment and says Mondesi is playing for himself rather than the team.

Aug. 11, 1999--Mondesi, in a profanity-laced tirade, rips into Malone and Johnson and demands to be traded.

Aug. 12, 1999--Gary Sheffield says he is tired of the negativity surrounding the team and says he wants to be traded unless there are major changes.

Sept, 28, 1999--With the Dodgers languishing in third place, Graziano is relieved of his duties.

Oct. 3, 1999--On the final day of the regular season, the Dodgers, without playing Sheffield and Brown, lose to Houston, 9-4, and the Astros clinch the NL Central title.

Oct. 28, 1999--Former studio executive Robert Daly is named Dodger chairman and chief executive.
