Chamber Campaign

Share

Your article and headline, “Business Lobby to Back GOP Campaign” (Oct. 27), inaccurately characterized the U.S Chamber of Commerce’s new political program for the 2000 elections. Even a casual reading of our press release, our Web site, or independent wire service reports reveals the chamber program is a bipartisan effort to elect a pro-business Congress.

The new, multimillion-dollar program will raise and spend as much as $100,000 for candidates in 35-40 close House races and more for 10-12 Senate contests. The program will work to elect representatives and senators on both sides of the aisle who have a demonstrated record of making a positive difference for American business.
