VENTURA COUNTY NEWS : Holiday Weekend Gets Off to Safe Start
There were no major accidents reported on Ventura County’s freeways and highways during the first 24 hours of the California Highway Patrol’s maximum enforcement period this holiday weekend, officials said.
The enforcement period began at 6 p.m. Friday and will run through Monday night. Maximum enforcement means 75% of all available officers are on patrol, Officer Dave Cockrill said.
Between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, 11 people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the CHP reported.
