Register.com, the first company to compete head-to-head against Network Solutions, said it registered its 1 millionth Internet domain name last week. The New York-based firm assigned the domain name “granny-to-be.com” to New Yorker Felicia Reymont and crossed the 1-million threshold less than three months after launching its registration business. Herndon, Va.-based Network Solutions, which for six years was the sole registrar of domain names ending in .com, .net and .org under a federal government contract, has registered more than 5 million Internet addresses.
