Surprised Paramedics Help Woman Deliver Twin Boys : Birth: Responding to a reported seizure, they discover a Reseda resident in labor. A second child is born in the ambulance.

Labor Day weekend took on a whole new meaning Sunday as paramedics responding to a reported seizure instead helped a Reseda woman deliver twin boys, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.

The 26-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was seven months pregnant when she unexpectedly went into labor around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, said spokesman Brian Humphrey. A nervous caller reported the labor as a seizure. But when paramedics arrived at the apartment in the 7000 block of Etiwanda Avenue, they found a woman giving birth to the first of two babies.

Paramedics assisted with the delivery, then rushed the first baby to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Humphrey said. The other child, a breech delivery--which means the baby was delivered feet first--was born in the ambulance on the way to the same hospital.

Humphrey said the mother, who has two other children, is doing well. Despite being born two months premature, the two boys were in good shape, officials said.
