VALLEY ROUNDUP : Northridge, Reseda : DWP to Deliver Free Low-Flush Toilets

Share

In an ongoing effort to conserve water, the city Department of Water and Power will deliver free ultra low-flush toilets this Saturday to residential customers in portions of Northridge and Reseda, officials said Wednesday.

Residential customers living within the 91335 ZIP Code area bounded by Roscoe Boulevard, Lindley Avenue, Saticoy Street and Tampa Avenue will receive new toilets, officials said. Old toilets will be picked up Sept. 25 and recycled.

“This program is important because it helps our customers and the city to achieve our water conservation goals and save money,” said David Freeman, DWP general manager. “By delivering toilets directly to the home, we can provide the best possible customer service.”

Residential customers who exchange their old toilets for 1.6-gallon water-saving toilets can save up to $35 a year on their water bill, as well as conserve thousands of gallons of water annually, officials said.

The water conservation program is funded by DWP with neighborhood delivery services provided by ADVANCE and ADRO Environmental Inc., two of six local community organizations involved in the project, officials said.
