Greek authorities said today that the death toll in Tuesday’s magnitude 5.9 quake in Athens increased to 67 people and that more than 1,500 were injured.

Dozens more were reported missing in the Athens area, where the temblor sent residents fleeing from homes and offices.

Twenty Turks composed the first foreign rescue team to reach the city’s most battered areas. They joined Greeks--their longtime archrivals--laboring at a collapsed factory in search of 30 trapped workers. The rescuers managed to pull out two survivors--a man and a woman.
