A crackdown on drug trafficking in the “junkyard” section of this gritty community adjoining Los Angeles Harbor resulted in jail terms Friday for two men caught trespassing in the targeted area, the city attorney’s office said.
Alphonso Means, 40, of Long Beach received a 360-day sentence after pleading no contest to two counts of trespassing on railroad property in two separate incidents in June.
Anthony Bryant, 46, of Wilmington was sentenced to 180 days in jail after pleading no contest to one count of trespassing in an incident that occurred last month.
City Atty. James K. Hahn said the jail terms grew out of a crackdown by the Los Angeles Police Department against drug trafficking in the port area.
Hahn noted that San Pedro Municipal Court Commissioner Ralph Amado imposed the maximum sentence in each case. The arrests were made by the LAPD’s Far East Wilmington Task Force.
