Oxnard 35, Santa Barbara 7--James McCowan ran for 139 yards in 26 carries and two touchdowns to lead the host Yellowjackets.

McCowan’s first touchdown, a four-yard run in the second quarter, gave Oxnard a 13-7 lead.

In the third quarter he scored on a five-yard run and ran in the two-point conversion to make it 21-7.

Tony Williams threw a 10-yard touchdown to Aaron Neal (seven receptions, 74 yards) and scored on a one-yard run.

Charles Tucker returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for Oxnard.

Santa Paula 35, Village Christian 0--Chad Metelak passed for two touchdowns and ran for a another and Cardinals defense recorded the shutout at Santa Paula.

Metelak completed nine of 16 passes for 93 yards, including two second-quarter touchdown passes--a 24-yarder to Mike Nava and a 20-yarder to Johnny Mata.

Metelak scored on a one-yard run four seconds before halftime to give the Cardinals a 28-0 lead.

Santa Paula held Village Christian to 14 yards in the first half and 98 overall.

The Cardinals’ Jacob Macias rushed for 56 yards in 11 carries. Xavier Ramirez added 34 yards in six carries and scored on a 19-yard run.

Mata had three catches for 34 yards.
