Seattle Ousts Zodiac From Postseason

Ian Russell and Sean Henderson each scored two goals to lead the Seattle Sounders to a 6-3 victory over the Zodiac in the first round of the A-League soccer playoffs in Seattle on Saturday.
With the victory, the Sounders (20-9) ended the Zodiac’s season and advanced to the Western Conference semifinals against top-seeded San Diego.
Jason Boyce gave the Zodiac (17-12) a quick 1-0 lead five minutes into the game, but Seattle answered with four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead at the half.
Jose Vasquez and Gustavo Leal scored second-half goals for the Zodiac, but Seattle kept the pressure on with two goals by Russell.
Seattle defeated the Zodiac twice this season, 4-1 and 2-1, and last year in the first round, 2-1. Six is the most goals Seattle has scored in a playoff game.
