Parade, Rodeo on Tap Today

Simi Valley Days continues through the weekend with a parade beginning at 9 a.m. today at Los Angeles Avenue and Erringer Road.

Also on today’s program is Kowchip Bingo at 4 p.m.

Rodeo events will run today (8 to 10 p.m.) and Sunday (2 to 4 p.m.) The carnival, which began Wednesday, will run today (11 a.m. to midnight) and Sunday (noon to 11 p.m.).

A 5K, 10K and family run-walk will take place Sunday morning. The route begins on Los Angeles Avenue between 1st Street and Madera Road, with start times running between 7:30 and 8:20 a.m. depending on the event. All participants are expected to register at 6:30 a.m.

Today’s parade will feature more than 100 entries. Scheduled participants include bands, bike shows, car clubs, floats, the 1933 Miss Simi, dancers and grand marshals.

Robert Noorigian, the parade chairman, said he expects about 10,000 people to view the event. Nearly 4,000 people will participate in the parade itself.

The parade will proceed west along Los Angeles Avenue and end at Sinaloa Road about noon.
