A 10-year-old Palmdale girl was in stable condition late Saturday, suffering from severe burns she sustained in a fiery car crash Friday near Agua Dulce that killed her grandmother.

Motorists on the Antelope Valley Freeway pulled Teresa Clark out of the car but were unable to reach Teresa Malone, 47, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Malone of Palmdale was traveling southbound near Escondido Canyon Road about 8:45 p.m. when her car drifted to the left and hit the dividing wall, according to CHP Officer Ed Jacobs.

“The vehicle went up on the wall, skidded along the wall for some distance and hit a traffic sign,” Jacobs said. It exploded in flames when it returned to the freeway pavement.

The girl was airlifted to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, and was later transferred to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton.
