K.C. Enzminger threw for a career-high 205 yards and two touchdowns as New Mexico State shocked No. 22-ranked Arizona State, 35-7, Saturday night at Tempe, Ariz.

New Mexico State was 0-14 against ranked teams since 1979, and school records didn’t reveal any games against ranked teams prior to then.

Enzminger also ran for 52 yards, only 10 less than heralded Arizona State running back J.R. Redmond, to lead New Mexico State to its first 3-0 start in seven years and its first victory over a Pacific 10 team. Arizona State is 1-1.

New Mexico State had 383 yards rushing in 58 carries, with Walter Taylor getting 118 yards in 17 carries--including a 48-yard touchdown.

Air Force 31, Washington 21--Quarterback Cale Bonds ran for three touchdowns at Seattle as Air Force won its 11th consecutive game.

The game was tied at halftime, 14-14, but the Falcons (2-0) took advantage of Washington mistakes in the second half to beat the Huskies for the second time in less than a year.

The Falcons defeated the Huskies, 45-25, in the inaugural Oahu Bowl in Honolulu last Christmas.

Freshman Paul Arnold set a Huskies’ record by returning Jackson Whiting’s kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown with 5:02 left after Bonds scored his third touchdown.

Washington dropped to 0-2 under first-year coach Rick Neuheisel, its worst start since the 1985 Huskies went 0-2 under Don James.

Oregon State 48, Georgia Southern 41--Ken Simonton rushed for 180 yards and four touchdowns, and the Beavers needed 543 yards of offense to beat Division I-AA’s No. 1-ranked team at Corvallis, Ore.

Oregon State improved to 3-0 for the first time since 1967. The Beavers, who have the longest winning streak in the Pac-10 at four, need three more victories to end their NCAA-record string of 28 consecutive seasons.

Idaho 28, Washington State 17--Third-string quarterback Greg Robertson came off the bench to throw three second-half touchdown passes as the Vandals (2-1) defeated the Cougars (0-3) at Pullman, Wash.

Idaho broke a losing streak of 14 games to Washington State, winning for the first time since 1965. Washington State (0-3) tied a team record with its 11th consecutive loss. The Cougars also lost 11 in a row over the 1970-71 seasons.
