Ever get the urge for a chocolate doughnut or glazed twist while doing your laundry?

Santa Ana-based Winchell’s Donut House, the largest doughnut chain on the West Coast, is partnering with Los Angeles-based Lucy’s LaundryMart. Under the arrangement, Winchell’s plans to open outlets at 11 Lucy’s locations by March. The first one opens this week in Los Angeles.

Each Winchell’s/Lucy location will feature a compact version of a Winchell’s doughnut shop where customers can buy doughnuts, muffins and breakfast bagel sandwiches as well as a variety of beverages.

Winchell’s President Tom Dowling sees the partnership as an opportunity for his company to take advantage of customers coming in to a Lucy’s at all hours instead of just in the morning when a majority of doughnuts are sold.

“This will give us the opportunity to substantially increase sales in the afternoon and evening hours,” he said.

There are currently 110 Winchell’s locations in Southern California.
