2 Plead No Contest in Attack at Store
Two alleged white supremacists pleaded no contest Monday to assaulting a black employee at a Wal-Mart store in Lancaster, in exchange for a reduced sentence of eight years in prison.
Prosecutors had initially charged Shaun Broderick, 19, and Christopher Crawford, 25, with attempted murder for allegedly threatening and kicking Nathaniel Harris, 20, and hitting him with a hammer in March.
The attack occurred after Harris, who was rounding up shopping carts, thought he recognized a former female classmate and asked her if they’d gone to school together.
Court workers said Monday that the defendants entered their plea to assault with a deadly weapon. A restitution hearing on the case is scheduled for today in Van Nuys Superior Court.
