Public Meeting Set on Eastside Civic Center
Los Angeles County officials who hope to create a civic center complex in East Los Angeles have invited residents to a public meeting this evening to discuss plans for the proposed project.
At the meeting, consultants who have been studying the issue will present several possible ways to reorganize the aging county buildings clustered around Belvedere Park into a more centralized campus of county services.
Supervisor Gloria Molina, whose office is coordinating the efforts to build a formal civic center, has secured $25 million from the county for some initial improvements to the area, including demolishing a rundown courthouse, rehabilitating the current library and adding landscaping.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Belvedere Park’s gymnasium, 4914 Cesar Chavez Ave.
