‘N Sync Produces a Record Debut

Share

‘N Sync exploded onto the charts this week, smashing the record for most albums sold in the U.S. in a single week (2.4 million copies) and that domination was reflected here in Southern California, where the disc “No Strings Attached” debuts at No. 1. Last week’s top seller, Santana’s “Supernatural,” slides to No. 3 while a pair of N.W.A alumni--Ice Cube and Dr. Dre--have solo albums in the Top 5. Cube’s album, “War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc),” is a newcomer to the charts this week, while “Dr. Dre 2001” has been a steady, strong seller since November, although it slides five notches this week.
