* Jazz--The Newport Jazz Millennium Celebration, “Saluting the Masters of Jazz,” begins Friday at 8 p.m. in Campbell Hall on the UC Santa Barbara campus. * Classical--The Westmont Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will present a spring concert at 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday in Abravanel Hall at the Music Academy of the West, 1070 Fairway Road, Santa Barbara. The orchestra and ensemble will play selections from Padilla, Brahms, Stanhope, Bach and Mozart, among others. $5 general, $3 seniors and students. 565-6051.

* Nature--The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden will hold a nature hike Saturday through Rattlesnake Canyon. Meet at 9 a.m. at Skofield Park, 1212 Mission Canyon Road, Santa Barbara. Hikers will have an early lunch under the oaks at the edge of a small meadow. The hike will be led by Cathy Rose. Bring water and hiking boots. $15 members, $20 nonmembers. 682-4726.

* Astronomy--The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History celebrates National Astronomy Day on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. at the museum, 2559 Puesta Del Sol Road, Santa Barbara. Featured activities include space art, model rocket display, telescopes, information tables and equipment swap meet. * Theater--The Acting Company, a renowned classical theater group, will present “The Rivals” Sunday at 8 p.m. in Campbell Hall on the UC Santa Barbara campus.
