* Operatic--New West Symphony will present a concert version of Rossini’s “Barber of Seville” at venues in Oxnard and Thousand Oaks. The opera cast will feature baritone Nmon Ford-Livene as Figaro. * Outdoors--Herbalist Lanny Kaufer will continue his Herb Walks 2000 series April 15 with a jaunt at Santa Ana Canyon near Ojai. The hikes offer hands-on education about edible and medicinal plant identification, gathering and storing techniques, herbal lore and more. The hike will be from 9 a.m.-noon. Bring a hat, water, hiking shoes and lunch; cameras and notebooks are optional. No dogs. Participants will carpool to trail head. * Jazz--The fourth annual “Sunday Afternoon Jazz at the Carnegie” series commences April 16 at Oxnard’s Carnegie Art Museum. The first installment will feature the Blade Company, a funk dance group. Show time: 4:30-6:30 p.m. $9 general; $7 museum members. 385-8157.

* Folk--Canadian singer-songwriter Eileen McGann will perform in the next installment of Tom and Becky Lowe’s “Folk Music in Ojai” series April 18. Lauded for her renditions of traditional music of Ireland, Scotland, England and Canada, McGann accompanies herself on guitar and cittern. David Knutson will provide backing vocals and instrumentation. The series is held at Ojai Valley Woman’s Club, 441 E. Ojai Ave., Ojai. Show time: 7:30 p.m. Advance, $10; at the door, $12. 646-5163.
