Public outcry has led city officials to consider new sites for the Boys & Girls Club’s proposed expansion at City Hall Park.
Opposition from residents, and criticism that the project would bypass the city Planning Commission, has led the city to take another look at the club’s planned move into a historic building at the park. The city will also review the best possible location for a new gymnasium.
Council members were scheduled to vote Tuesday on the club’s plans to build a gymnasium at the park, but pulled the item from the agenda to give the city and the club more time to consider other spaces.
