InternetConnect Will Relocate to Torrance

InternetConnect, a provider of high-speed Internet access and other services for corporations, will move from its 44,000-square-foot headquarters in Marina del Rey to a 240,000-square-foot facility in Torrance under terms of a lease signed last week, the company said.

Financial details of the 11-year lease were not disclosed, but its value would be approximately $70 million at current asking rates for comparable office space.

InternetConnect’s new headquarters will be a four-building, 11.4-acre campus at 20770 Madrona Ave. in Torrance, next to the Torrance Civic Center. The facility, built in 1990 and designed by architectural firm Gensler & Associates, was formerly occupied by computer manufacturer Epson, which has moved to Long Beach. InternetConnect will move in June.

The lease signals the burgeoning demand from “dot-com” companies for office space, said broker Robert Chavez of Staubach & Co., who represented the tenant in the lease transaction. The Madrona Avenue campus is owned by San Diego-based Southwest Value Partners, which was represented in-house by Mark A. Schlossberg, managing director.

InternetConnect moved into its existing headquarters in September but now needs more space to accommodate a rapidly growing work force, the company said. The current headquarters houses 240 employees, but the new campus will have room for 1,000, the company said.
