Police detectives are investigating whether Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy (D-R.I.) grabbed and pushed a security agent at Los Angeles International Airport last month, the LAPD announced Monday.

Della Patton said that shortly before noon on March 26, she was shoved by Kennedy at a pre-boarding security checkpoint in Terminal 7, said Police Lt. Horace Frank.

Patton complained of pain to her left shoulder as a result of the incident.

Patton and a witness have been interviewed by Robbery-Homicide Division detectives, who handle high-profile cases.

Police officials offered no further details. They investigation, they said, is continuing.

Kennedy, 31, is the youngest child of Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.). He is serving his third term as a congressman from Rhode Island’s 1st District.
