IRVINE
A Web site has been created to promote a plan for Newport Beach and South County cities to compromise on the battle over El Toro.
Last month, former Newport Beach Mayor Tom Edwards unveiled a proposal that calls for Irvine, Newport Beach and the rest of South County to work together to prevent the expansion of John Wayne Airport and to halt plans for a commercial airport at the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.
Dennis Ashendorf, a Mission Viejo resident, said he created the “Quiet Skies Over Orange County” site so people can easily find the latest news and information on Edwards’ proposal.
