During the next two years the city is planning to bury more than 3,400 feet of electrical, telephone and cable TV lines in the downtown area for aesthetic and safety purposes.

The $1.5-million project will also cover converting about 37 standard street lights to decorative ones.

Lines will be removed from portions of Ocean Avenue, Beach Street, Mermaid Street, 3rd Street, the alley between 2nd and Glenneyre streets and the alley between 2nd and 3rd streets.
